Great Basin Wild Rye
Advantageous characteristics that this tall native grass brings:
A drought and biodiverse replacement to Karl Forester; Erosion control from very deep roots (6-8 feet); Another bonus are these tiny tufts and blue/green stems and seeds can out compete cheatgrass! Shelter and food for birds and range wildlife, including livestock; Fire protection; Low water needs; Beauty…makes a texture and movement impact on the space as the stems and seeds flow in the breeze (on average 3-5 feet tall).
