Agastache aurantiaca 'Tango'
This smaller sized (14”x16”) hummingbird-mint perennial has warm colored orange petals and a purple base. The tubular shaped flowers are just what bumblebees, hummingbirds, bees, and butterflies are attracted to, plus, its gorgeous scent.
This low maintenance plant prefers full sun (afternoon shade helps in very hot spaces) and light watering. Being a relative of the mint family, it is far less a root spreader but will reseed. To control this, just the flowers should be trimmed in the fall. Note: cutting back to the ground is delayed until the spring before the first frost. The stems are kept as nutrients which are delivered back to the plant and the stems are ideal for native pollinator nests.
