Coreopsis verticillata ‘Moonbeam’

The small pastel yellow daisy-like flowers float upon delicate, feathery stems. The foliage is soft and darker green. Growing potentially to 2’ x 2’ it is not picky about soils, just that they drain well. It is drought tolerant once established. See the Vitalbeebuds website care page on how to guide it through the first year. Some gardeners have reported this to be a shorter-lived perennial and others were happy to have it around for at least 5 years. New spawns can be expected nearby, but the plant will not reseed profusely.

Although native to Eastern Northern America its hardiness still matches our harsh conditions here near the Sierra Mountains and below in the Great Basin. The parent (Thread Leaf Coreopsis) is especially tough and resilient as well. I have grown ‘Moonbeam’ in my garden and love the texture and light yellow masses of mounds that cover the perennial space.
